Always use an SSD for your games. An SSD has orders of magnitude faster seek, read and write times than an HDD; on top of which, games often read from multiple files to load a single level, leaning even more heavily on that super-fast seek time to deliver fast, responsive loads and saves. Especially when autosave is enabled — a paused game sitting there while the autosave spinner spins is just frustrating.

I mean, look: if your idea of games is Adventure on the Atari 2600 (that flipping invisible dragon), then what’s happening there is the entire game gets loaded into your modern computer’s RAM, so the disk is irrelevant — the game is less than half of 1MB anyway.
