Are larger hard drives more likely to fail? Short answer. No. So why does it feel like they do, why does ‘seem’ like they are more likely to fail? Ultimately if you’re a bit of a datahoarder and one of your small drives fails, the chances of that one drive having anything super important on it are reduced compared to a huge 24 or 32TB drive. When a 32TB drive fails, you’re going to ‘feel the pain’ and so this makes it a much more emotional affair.
